In 2021/2022 there were 349,190 people participating in STEM apprenticeships in England. Only 370 of those were scientific apprenticeships (as the government currently classifies and groups STEM subjects) The SBSA would like to a) review and change the way the government categorises some scientific apprenticeships (many fall into engineering subject areas) and b) to increase the actual numbers of active science apprenticeships (circa 2500) to 10,000 by 2030.
Raise awareness of career opportunities in the scientific and healthcare sector, particularly for minority groups.
Connect small or medium-sized enterprise with large employers to facilitate levy transfers.
Collaborate with Government to improve policies that support scientific apprenticeships.
Connect Training Providers with employers of scientific apprenticeships.
